VITAMIN DESCRIPTIONS

This medication is a mineral supplement used to prevent and treat low amounts of magnesium in the blood. Some brands are also used to treat symptoms of too much stomach acid such as stomach upset, heartburn, and acid indigestion. Magnesium is very important for the normal functioning of cells, nerves, muscles, bones, and the heart. Usually, a well-balanced diet provides normal blood levels of magnesium. However, certain situations cause your body to lose magnesium faster than you can replace it from your diet. These situations include treatment with "water pills" (diuretics such as furosemide, hydrochlorothiazide), a poor diet, alcoholism, or other medical conditions (e.g., severe diarrhea/vomiting, stomach/intestinal absorption problems, poorly controlled diabetes).

Magnesium Chloride

Fresh Milk

This medication is used to prevent or treat low blood calcium levels in people who do not get enough calcium from their diets. It may be used to treat conditions caused by low calcium levels such as bone loss (osteoporosis), weak bones (osteomalacia/rickets), decreased activity of the parathyroid gland (hypoparathyroidism), and a certain muscle disease (latent tetany). It may also be used in certain patients to make sure they are getting enough calcium (e.g., women who are pregnant, nursing, or postmenopausal, people taking certain medications such as phenytoin, phenobarbital, or prednisone).  Calcium plays a very important role in the body. It is necessary for normal functioning of nerves, cells, muscle, and bone. If there is not enough calcium in the blood, then the body will take calcium from bones, thereby weakening bones. Having the right amount of calcium is important for building and keeping strong bones.

Calcium Gluconate

Meat and Cheese

Thiamine (vitamin B1) is used to prevent or treat low levels of vitamin B1 in people who do not get enough of the vitamin from their diets. Most people who eat a normal diet do not need extra vitamin B1. However, some conditions (such as alcoholism, cirrhosis, stomach/intestinal problems) can cause low levels of vitamin B1. Vitamin B1 plays an important role in the body. It is needed to maintain the health of the nerves and the heart. Low levels of vitamin B1 may cause heart failure and mental/nerve problems.

Thiamine HCL

Green Vegetables

Riboflavin is Vitamin B2. It is involved in many processes in the body and is necessary for normal cell growth and function. It can be found in certain foods such as milk, meat, eggs, nuts, enriched flour, and green vegetables. Riboflavin is frequently used in combination with other B vitamins in vitamin B complex products.  Some people take riboflavin by mouth to prevent low levels of riboflavin (riboflavin deficiency) in the body, for various types of cancer, and for migraine headaches. It is also taken by mouth for acne, muscle cramps, burning feet syndrome, carpal tunnel syndrome, and blood disorders such as congenital methemoglobinemia and red blood cell aplasia. Some people use riboflavin for eye conditions including eye fatigue, cataracts, and glaucoma.  Some people also take riboflavin by mouth to maintain healthy hair, skin, and nails, to slow aging, for canker sores, multiple sclerosis, memory loss including Alzheimer's disease, high blood pressure, burns, liver disease, and sickle cell anemia.

There are two forms of vitamin B3 - niacin and niacinamide. Niacinamide is found in many foods including yeast, meat, fish, milk, eggs, green vegetables, beans, and cereal grains. Niacinamide is also found in many vitamin B complex supplements with other B vitamins. Niacinamide can also be formed in the body from dietary niacin.  Do not confuse niacinamide with niacin, NADH, nicotinamide riboside, inositol nicotinate, or tryptophan. Niacinamide is used to prevent vitamin B3 deficiency and related conditions such as pellagra (diarrhea, dementia, dermitis, and possible death). It is also used for acne, diabetes, oral cancer, osteoarthritis, and many other conditions, but there is no good scientific evidence to support these uses.

Dexpanthenol-is an alcohol derivative of pantothenic acid, a component of the B complex vitamins and an essential component of a normally functioning epithelium. Dexpanthenol is enzymatically cleaved to form pantothenic acid, which is an essential component of Coenzyme A, which acts as a cofactor in many enzymatic reactions that are important for protein metabolism in the epithelium.  It is widely used in skin disorders.

Shrimp, Clams & Oysters

Cyanocobalamin is a man-made form of vitamin B12 used to prevent and treat low blood levels of this vitamin. Most people get enough vitamin B12 from their diet. Vitamin B12 is important to maintain the health of your metabolism, blood cells, and nerves. Serious vitamin B12 deficiency may result in a low number of red blood cells (anemia), stomach/intestine problems, and permanent nerve damage.  Vitamin B12 deficiency may occur in certain health conditions (such as intestinal/stomach problems, poor nutrition, cancer, HIV infection, pregnancy, old age, alcoholism). It may also occur in people who follow a strict vegetarian (vegan) diet.

Vitamin C (ascorbic acid) is a nutrient your body needs to form blood vessels, cartilage, muscle and collagen in bones. Vitamin C is also vital to your body's healing process.  Vitamin C is an antioxidant that helps protect your cells against the effects of free radicals — molecules produced when your body breaks down food or is exposed to tobacco smoke and radiation from the sun, X-rays or other sources. Free radicals might play a role in heart disease, cancer and other diseases. Vitamin C also helps your body absorb and store iron.

Digestion: People without enough glutathione may have problems digesting food properly. Glutathione supplements have been shown to help people with AIDS to better digest food and reverse weight loss. Similarly, people with cystic fibrosis often have weight loss due to malabsorption of nutrients, along with intestinal inflammation. A study found that children with glutathione deficiency who took a supplement experienced less inflammation and better growth.

Weight management: Older people have a reduced ability to produce glutathione naturally, which can lead to a reduced ability to burn fat, as well as weight gain. One study in mice found that correcting a glutathione deficiency helped the mice burn fat better and reduced their risk of diabetes. The researchers found a similar effect in humans, though they say more study is needed.

Peripheral artery disease pain symptoms: A study found that an intravenous glutathione supplement helped ease pain in people who had decreased blood flow to their legs due to vascular disease. These people had previously experienced calf pain while walking, but with twice-daily IV glutathione treatment, they could walk farther without pain. However, for most healthy people, the free radicals created by exercise are neutralized by a higher production of antioxidants in their body.

Anticancer effects: Some studies have shown that glutathione’s neutralization of free radicals may have anticancer and anti-tumor effects. Researchers note that a glutathione supplement is not meant to replace standard chemotherapy treatment for cancer, but it is an antioxidant that needs more study for its potential anticancer effects. Be sure to talk to your doctor before adding a supplement to your diet if you’re undergoing cancer treatment.

Skin properties: A study showed that taking a low-dose glutathione supplement may help reduce the appearance of wrinkles. It may also have a skin-lightening effect. Researchers in this study suggested glutathione may have an antiaging agent.

EDTA is a prescription medicine, given by injection into the vein (intravenously) or into the muscle (intramuscularly).  Intravenous EDTA is used to treat lead poisoning and brain damage; to treat poisonings by radioactive materials (plutonium, thorium, uranium, and strontium); for removing copper in patients with a genetic disease called Wilson's disease; and for reducing levels of calcium in people whose levels are too high.  EDTA is also used intravenously for heart and blood vessel conditions including irregular heartbeat due to exposure to chemicals called cardiac glycosides, "hardening of the arteries" (atherosclerosis), chest pain (angina), high blood pressure, high cholesterol, stroke, and blood circulation problems.  Other intravenous uses include treatment of cancer, rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, an eye condition called macular degeneration, diabetes, Alzheimer's disease, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson's disease, and skin conditions including scleroderma and psoriasis.

NAD is used for improving mental clarity, alertness, concentration, and memory; as well as for treating Alzheimer’s disease and dementia. Because of its role in energy production, NAD is also used for improving athletic performance and treating chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS).  Some people use NAD for treating high blood pressure, high cholesterol, jet lag, depression, and Parkinson’s disease; opposing alcohol’s effects on the liver; reducing signs of aging; and protecting against the side effects of an AIDS drug called zidovudine (AZT).  Healthcare providers sometimes give NAD by intramuscular (IM) or intravenous (IV) injection for Parkinson's disease and depression.

NAD IV therapy is not a cure for addiction. However, it is a powerful tool that can aid in the recovery process by reducing withdrawal symptoms. By making the withdrawal period more tolerable, this therapy helps patients transition into sobriety. NAD IV therapy is a natural alternative to medications that often pose a greater risk of side effects, and it works well in conjunction with counseling or psychotherapy. NAD IV therapy has been used to help patients detoxify from alcohol, opioid, chemical, and prescription drug dependencies.

Sirtuins are a family of protein molecules that have been found to play a crucial role in the body’s inflammatory response and antioxidant expression. Basically, certain sirtuins can reduce inflammation, which in turn, alleviates pain. Sirtuins require the NAD+ coenzyme in order to function properly, so NAD IV therapy fuels this process of pain reduction.  In addition to their impact on inflammation and pain, sirtuins have the ability to improve cells’ resistance to stress and can slow the process of cognitive decline.

NAD IV therapy provides sirtuins with the NAD+ coenzyme they require in order to: Improve mental clarity, boost memory, improve mood, facilitate brain regeneration, improve concentration, increase one’s ability to focus, boost neurological function, and reduce symptoms of depression.  Adenosine triphosphate, or ATP, is commonly referred to as “molecular currency” because it is essentially the source of energy for our cells. ATP is the fuel that supports many processes within the body, including cellular respiration, replication of DNA, and muscle contractions.

NAD IV therapy aids the production of ATP within the body, which in turn boosts energy levels and reduces feelings of tiredness or exhaustion. NAD IV therapy is often prescribed to treat Chronic Fatigue Syndrome or CFS. It can also help people recovering from jetlag.

Athletes and anyone looking to improve their physical performance will benefit from NAD IV therapy’s ability to boost energy and cognitive function, as mentioned above. After all, having more energy and being able to think clearly is sure to improve reaction times and overall performance during training and competitions. In addition, the NAD+ coenzyme plays a vital role in muscle development.

NAD IV therapy helps maintain muscle health by supplying your body with ample fuel to not only fire muscles during a workout but repair them afterwards, so you can build stronger muscles and increase muscle mass.  he NAD+ coenzyme plays an important role in the human body’s metabolic process. When

NAD IV therapy is used in conjunction with a proper diet and regular exercise, it can help patients maintain a healthy weight. This can be particularly useful as patients age and metabolism naturally begins to slow down.

We discussed how sirtuins can affect cognitive function, inflammation, and pain management, as well as how these deacetylases are dependent upon NAD+. One sirtuin in particular, known as Sir2p, also plays a role in the aging process and the overall health span of the body.

NAD IV therapy impacts the effectiveness of Sir2p, which can reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, and reverse certain symptoms of aging.  While research is still ongoing and more studies are needed to fully understand the impact of the NAD+ coenzyme on various conditions, scientists have found a connection between this vital enzyme and several cardiovascular and metabolic diseases. Lowered levels of NAD+ have been linked to diabetes and fatty liver disease, among other conditions.

Because Pyridoxine (Vitamin B6) affects so many systems in your body, it has many benefits to your health, including:

Better circulation. Homocysteine is one of 21 amino acids in your body. High levels of homocysteine in your bloodstream can lead to heart problems. Vitamin B6 helps maintain a normal amount of this amino acid in your blood.

A stronger immune system. Vitamin B6 helps chemical reactions in the immune system, helping it work better. Eating foods rich in vitamin B6 will help your body guard against infection. Studies conducted with older adults have linked low levels of vitamin B6 with poor immune response.

Less morning sickness. Studies have found that taking vitamin B6 may help ease nausea during pregnancy, though it doesn’t help with vomiting.

Better mood. Your body needs vitamin B6 to make serotonin, a hormone that elevates your mood. Some studies have shown that not having enough vitamin B6 in your diet can contribute to depression

Help with PMS. There is evidence to suggest taking vitamin B6 supplements can ease some of the effects of premenstrual syndrome, including:

  • Breast tenderness

  • Depression

  • Anxiety

Lower cancer risk. Maintaining healthy levels of vitamin B6 in your blood might also help reduce your chances of cancer. If you already have cancer, Studies have shown that vitamin B6 may slow tumor growth.

Better brain function. High levels of homocysteine have been associated with dementia, Alzheimer’s disease, and cognitive decline. Vitamin B6 helps the body regulate levels of homocysteine in the blood.

Folate is Vitamin B9 which is needed to make red and white blood cells in the bone marrow, convert carbohydrates into energy, and produce DNA or deoxyribonucleic acid (which is a long molecule that contains our unique genetic code) and RNA or ribonucleic acid (which is a complex compound of high molecular weight that functions in cellular protein synthesis and replaces DNA (deoxyribonucleic acid) as a carrier of genetic codes in some viruses.
Adequate folate intake is extremely important during periods of rapid growth such as pregnancy, infancy, and adolescence.
